🐢 Citroen Berlingo 1.6 Hdi Not Starting

My 57 plate 1.6hdi 75 runs rough when cold but always starts first time, also noticed a little white smoke whilst running rough. After a couple of minutes it seems to run perfectly. Not checked for any fault codes as i dont have a code reader but looking to buy one if anybody has any recommendation. • Fault diagnosis, codes with exact diagnostic information and fault tree for 1.6 HDi EDC16C34 engines which start then stop, or stall while running. I have a 2011 (built late 2011) Berlingo 1.6 HDi XTR and the horn does not work. The horn has been replaced. The horn fuse (and all the fuses) in the fuse box under the bonnet test ok. When the horn button (air bag assembly) on the steering wheel is pressed there is a click from the relay in the fuse Replacing a stop start battery is no different to changing any battery. You will need to do a bsi reset just like any Citroen or Peugeot just google 'bsi reset'. I was contemplating swapping my battery as the stop/start has stopped working. I have since charged the battery and all is OK now. When they went to replace that they found water pump leak so ended up having that replaced and new timing belt. Picked van up and after driving about 25 miles it stalled again and over the 40 or so miles it took to get home it again stalled twice. Each time took a bit of starting but it did eventually. I'd find a Citroen independent who has it and knows these engines if the electronic stuff is not your area of tinkering as the HDi is electronically complex. Sorry for the long post but this issue is widely known across all brands that use the HDi 1.6 engine and can be a long and dreary path to resolve. Here's the other side: Pin 2 should be live, and you should have continuity when the pedal is NOT pressed, connection should be broken when you press the pedal. It could be the crank sensor. I would start there. Without looking up these codes, this is my best estimate. The P2291 code is low cranking fuel pressure but could still be related to the crank sensor giving no signal. The ECU will shut off the fuel if the crank sensor stops sending a signal. Beyond that the fuel pressure sensor could be bad. Citroen berlingo 1.6 hdi - Car starts and ticks over cuts out if revved. Hello.. Car will start and tick over but curs out if given a rev.. Suspect fuel starvation. Open to suggestions.
